Book Tag | The Summer Reader

summer reader tag

Hey everyone! Today, I’m going to be doing the Summer Reader Book Tag. Thanks so much to Hafsa from BookMates for tagging me in this! I saw this on BookTube a week or so ago, and I adored it, and I’ve been wanting to do it ever since. So thanks again for tagging me. <3

The tag was originally created by IslandofBooks on their YouTube channel!

1. Lemonade: pick a book that started off bitter, but got better.

The Mime Order (The Bone Season #2) by Samantha Shannon

I wouldn’t say that this book started off bitter, per se, but it was very slow and it took me a while to get through the first seventy or so pages. After that, I was hooked, and it’s one of my favorite books of 2015!

2. Golden Sun: pick a book that made you smile beyond compare.

Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss #2) by Stephanie Perkins

lola and the boy next door

This was my favorite of Stephanie Perkins’ contemporaries. Lola and Cricket’s relationship was so cute, so refreshing. It was very sweet.

3. Tropical Flowers: pick a book set in a foreign country.

The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn #1) by Renée Ahdieh

Yes, I’m talking about this book YET again. Technically, the area this book is set in doesn’t exist in the modern world since parts of it lie in different countries like Iran and Afghanistan. Even then, this was such a refreshing change, and it was a delight to read.

4. Tree Shade: pick a book in which a mysterious or shady character was first introduced.

The Diviners (The Diviners #1) by Libba Bray

the diviners

I, for the life of me, could not come up with anything for this category. So I went with Naughty John from this book, who is – arguably – one of the creepiest villains you’ll ever encounter in YA fiction. There’s an air of mystery surrounding him that keeps you turning the pages at an alarming pace, trying to figure out who this dude is and why he’s so amazingly insane.

5. Beach Sand: pick a book that was grainy, and the plot barely developed.

The Infinite Moment of Us by Lauren Myracle

Awful. Just awful.

Click here for my full review. My review is basically me shitting over everything in this book, so if you’re into that, read it, you’ll be satisfied. xD

6. Green Grass: pick a character(s) that were full of life, making you smile.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle #3) by Maggie Stiefvater

The characters in this series give me life. I love everything about them; their relationships with each other, their personalities. Adam and Ronan with their little, weird thing going on, and then Gansey and Blue with theirs. And the Raven Boys with their wonderful friendship that transcends everything else. And Noah who is adorable. Little cinnamon rolls, every single one of them.

7. Watermelon: pick a book that had some juicy secrets.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

we were liars

Can’t say much because spoilers, but oh boy.

8. Sun Hat: pick a book that had a vast, big universe/setting.

The Demon King (Seven Realms #1) by Cinda Williams Chima

I refrained from picking Harry Potter or A Song of Ice and Fire because those are the obvious choices, but the Seven Realms series is really impressing me so far with its world-building skills.

9. BBQ: pick a book in which a character was portrayed as a hunk.

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses #1) by Sarah J. Maas

Tamlin, my love.
