Hello everyone! It’s almost time for Christmas, and I’m so excited! I love the Christmas season, even though I don’t celebrate it in a religious sense. But Christmas in New York City is an experience I look forward to every year. The lights, the merriness, the snow, holiday music, Starbucks’ red cups. I love seeing how people decorate their houses, how people decorate their shop windows. It’s such a lovely time, and so I thought I’d share my appreciation for the holiday season by doing this tag!
Now, I first came into contact with this tag last year when I was trying to decide if I wanted to set up a blog or not. And ever since then, I knew that if I made a blog, I’d do this tag. I wasn’t tagged by anyone, but that’s okay. I’m still super excited to do this.
So, with that unnecessarily long introduction, let’s jump into the tag!
Do you have a favorite winter read?
I’m not one for re-reads. The only books I have ever re-read are the Harry Potter books, and I don’t usually pick them up in any kind of pattern: just when I feel like it. But during the winter, I do tend to lean heavily towards the high fantasy genre. I like dark, twisted reads. I like reading about anti-heroes and maniacal villains. I like reading about cozy taverns and rainy horse rides. High fantasy and winter go hand-in-hand for me.
Find a book with blue on the cover!
This isn’t a Christmasy cover, but it’s a pretty good book in a decent series. Also, the cover is very wintery even though I feel bad for the heroine. Standing in that wind in that dress would not be pleasant…
Find a book you’d use as the star on top of a Christmas tree
This is actually one of my favorite book covers of all-time. I don’t think a book can get any more beautiful than this one. I get Patronus-ish vibes, but I’m totally okay with it.
Pick one fictional place that would be perfect for a winter vacation
There might be something wrong with me, but my pick is Winterfell from the A Song of Ice and Fire series. On one condition though: I’d get to be a high lady or something. I love the cold, and to spend my winter in a massive castle seems like a dream. Okay, there’s definitely something wrong with me.
Pick one fictional character you’d take with you on your winter vacation!
Can I just take Chaol Westfall away from all the bad people who hate him? That guy can do with a vacation. He left his family for the sake of the kingdom, he found out his king’s evil, he almost watched his best friend die and his girlfriend tried to kill him and then left him and came back with a different guy. *wraps Chaol up in blankets and hisses at the haters*
Name one book on your wish list this year!
I’ve been meaning to get this, but it’s kind of expensive and I don’t know when I’ll actually get to it. So I’ve been putting it off, but I still want it.
Favourite holiday drink, treat, & movie?
I don’t think I have a favorite of either. But I recently discovered Starbucks’ seasonal creme brûlée latte, which is the most delicious thing I’ve ever tried. So I suppose that would be my drink. As for treat, I really like cheesecake during the holiday season. Any kind of cheesecake will do.
For movie, I’ll have to go with either Home Alone (any of them) or Love Actually. They’re both very Christmasy and wonderful.

And YOU if you want to do this tag.
To anyone who I’ve personally tagged, if you’ve already done this tag or don’t want to do it, please don’t feel pressured to do so!
Anyways, happy holidays everyone! <3
