Top Ten Tuesday | Random Facts about Me

Hello everyone! It’s that time of the week again! Top Ten Tuesday is a book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Basically, you get a different bookish topic every Tuesday, and you comprise a list of ten (or however many you’re able to list) relating to said topic.

Today’s topic is a freebie of sorts – you can write ten facts about yourself, whether they are bookish or non-bookish, or whatever you like. I went for a non-bookish theme. I don’t know about you but I really love getting to know more about a blogger, what their lives are like, what things they enjoy besides reading and blogging. It’s also fun to sometimes step back and write something on a topic other than books!

 1. Places I’ve Lived

I have lived in 3 continents, 3 countries, 4 cities and 14 houses, LOL. I was born in Faisalabad, Pakistan. From there, I moved to a larger city called Lahore – also in Pakistan. At the age of seven, I moved to the UK (London), and then back to Lahore when I was 10. At seventeen, I moved to New York. Since then – in the past three years – I’ve moved three houses. XD

2. Dream vacation home

I know many people say that their dream vacation home would be in a nice exotic location with lots of water and beaches, and that’s pretty and everything, but gosh. What I wouldn’t do to own a little cabin in the woods. Maybe I’d make friends with wolves or something. Wouldn’t that be a dream? (I have a strange obsession with wolves, I don’t know how it started but it’s getting out of hand, guys.)

3. Football obsession

When I was in seventh grade, I discovered a strange little thing called football. It’s 20 men running and kicking around a football, and it was the single greatest thing I’d ever rooted for. Manchester United Football Club became my obsession; the matches would take place in the UK at ungodly hours in Pakistan; I’d set an alarm for 2 am and wake up in the middle of the night on school nights, quietly tread downstairs to the TV lounge and whisper-scream whenever Manchester United won a match, ha. I’ve stopped watching football since then, but the club holds such a dear place in my heart. <3

4. Ay, I play the guitar!

In fourth grade, I begged my dad to let me take a guitar-class in school. My dad’s always been awesome- he bought me a guitar that went with my tiny body and I’ve been playing ever since. It’s been what, almost 12 years since I first picked up the instrument? I’m so shit at keeping up with hobbies, though (which is why I’m amazed I’m still blogging), because I haven’t picked up my guitar in months. 🙁

5. Savory over sweet

I love chocolate as much as the next person, and ice-cream is awesome, but I can always turn down dessert. I can never turn down a good savory dish. Nom nom, now I’m hungry.

6. First show I binge-watched

Now, I really enjoyed Western TV shows as a child. Drake & Josh was my LIFE, as well as all those awesome Disney Channel shows that this generation will never know: That’s So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, Phil of the Future- classic. But the first TV show I actively binge-watched was Doctor Who, back when I was in ninth grade. God, it took over my life! After that, the binge-watcher in me emerged. Right after came my obsession with the Vampire Diaries, 90210 and Gossip Girl, after which came Supernatural. The rest is history.

7. First Tumblr account

Lmao, this is so embarrassing, and I don’t think I’ve ever admitted this to anyone. So y’all are special, you hear me? My first tumblr account was a depressing as fuck, black-and-white emo account where I posted about how sad my life was and reblogged the most depressing photos. Looking back, I think about what I had to be sad about? LMAO, oh no my best friend said something mean, or my parents won’t let me eat as much chocolate as I want? Hahahaha, wow. I was, what, 12?!?!

8. First major concert

You might think this gif is an ill fit, but I swear to you, it is not. My first major concert was Kings of Leon, and I saw them live in 2014 at Madison Square Gardens. I bought the ticket with my own money, and since it was my first concert, I wasn’t aware of what the best seats were. I was to the sidelines (close to the stage), but among a group of people who were there just to be there, not because they were fans. I, on the other hand, knew every single song. I’m a HUGE Kings of Leon fan, so I was very literally the only one jumping and singing all the songs. It was a great, albeit slightly awkward, night.

9. First rock music exposure

The first ever rock song I heard was Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. Yes, I remember exactly which one it was because it changed my fucking life. American Idiot was the first album I bought, and it still remains one of my favorite albums of all-time. My taste in music was forever changed in 2004 when Green Day, Weezer, Hoobastank and Brand New came into my life, ha. Ever since, rock is the only constant in my ever-expanding music taste. I always come back to rock music- it’s just how it is.

10. Ultimate celebrity crush

ZAYN MALIK IS THE ULTIMATE BAE. I didn’t ever like One Direction’s music, but they became all the rage in Pakistan when people found out there’s a half-Pakistani member in the band. Googled him, and I died. HAHA. Looking back at fetus Zayn, I wonder how I ever found him attractive. BECAUSE PRESENT ZAYN with his facial hair and crazy tattoos and the dark persona, THAT IS EVERYTHING I LIVE FOR. Plus, if I were to marry him, it’d totally be halal. Aim for the moon, right? XD

That’s it for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by, and as always, happy reading!

  1. That’s so crazy that you lived in 14 houses! Wow. I’ve only lived in 3 houses. I don’t think I can live in a cabin in the woods. I feel like its too secluded and I’ve seen too many scary movies haha

  2. Umm… I totally pick your dream home, too. I’m not a huge fan of beaches. The sand bothers me too much and I would much prefer to be up in the mountains or something, able to look out across the gorgeous landscape. Yeah, that’s my dream home. :p

Bahaha! I think we all had that emo stage. Mine just wasn’t on tumblr or any type of social media site. Haha!

    My TTT

      • Haha! I don’t even really need WiFi. I mean, without I would have way more time to read and write (not on my blog). I would have to give up blogging. Or just like travel down the mountain into the city once a month and plan all my posts and reply to all my comments then. :p That would be so weird. Haha! Still, I think the scenery and serenity would totally make up for it.

  3. Oh my goodness, all the places you’ve lived is incredible! I’m jelly! I’m completely the same I love sweet food but give me carbs any day and I shall be you’re slave! I’ve never been a 1D fan either and have never cared much for the boys but when I first heard Pillow Talk I have to tell you I lowkey died and have since been in love with Zayn as well!! Fantastic post I loved learning new things about you!!!!

  4. Wow. You have seriously lived in a ton of places! I have only lived in two countries, but in three houses. XD
Drake & Josh was my life as well, when I was younger (along with many other Disney Channel shows) – I used to watch them ALL the time!
My first tumblr account was also depressing as hell (though it was anime/manga centered). I think I started it when I was 13 and kept it till I was 18…Well, apparently I was a depressing teenager

    • Drake & Josh is such a legendary show. I find that even at the age of 21, I can go back and enjoy almost every single episode. :3
I think we were all depressing teenagers at some point, though I deleted my angsty account at 15 and started a fandom-centered one. XD Got rid of that one too. 😛

      • That’s true! I could watch them all again as well. (Though I haven’t actually seen any of them for around 2 years now.) 🙂
Hahaha, I think I just enjoyed letting all of my “dark” thoughts and anger out throughout that. And it did make me feel a lot better in real life, which was great! 😀 And then I passed that faze and decided to get rid of it.

  5. Wow! You’ve lived everywhere. I move a lot but have never even been out of the US. I would love to visit the UK, though, and may study abroad in Greece. I think the first show I’ve ever binge-watched was Supernatural… or at least the one I can remember… or wait! Zoey 101 was the best! And Drake and Josh too! I also loved The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Classics. I don’t favor beaches or anything tropical really, I want a home in the woods as well. It’d be perfect for writing. The most Doctor Who episodes I have seen in a row at once is probably 3-4… although I love it I have to take a break sometimes. Though I could watch Supernatural all week non stop. Love the list and great facts!

    • Studying abroad in Greece sounds so awesome! That’s the thing with Europe; everything is so close by that you’ll find yourself visiting a new country almost every weekend, ha. I do hope you have a ton of fun!
Oh, the Sprouse twins were in my university! XD I used to see them around all the time- it was bizarre seeing them all-grown up when half my childhood was watching them on TV. XD

  6. In the middle of my senior year of high school one of my friends got really into football. Messi is my favorite football player so naturally my favorite club is Barcelona. XD And omg, I had this crazy emo inspired phase when I was in middle school (I didn’t make a tumblr though, haha); the only type of music I’d listen to was rock. I still listen to mostly rock when I don’t listen to Asian music. XD And omg, it’s so ironic that you mentioned Zayn. I was never into 1D either, but he was my favorite member if I had to choose in terms of looks. And omg, I literally just discovered Pillowtalk (belated, I know) and I love it despite it being not my usual norm of music. And agreed, he’s grown up so well! <3

    • Messi? *le gasp* I’m Team Ronaldo, though I think that’s more because he was the Giant in Manchester United when I had the obsession. 😛
Omg, you need to listen to his new album. It’s completely different from 1D and very slick, and I’m not just saying that because I love him. XD

  7. Wow. You are definitely well traveled. I’d love to visit New York one day just to say I’ve been there haha. I’d so take the cabin in the woods over the beach any day, especially if it meant I could have my own pack of wolves. 😛 The only interest I’ve shown in football was this years Euro’s because Wales were in it and I was so proud of my little country for making it to the semis. Now that that’s done I’ll switch off from all things football haha.

  8. I moved around a lot as well and had so many different houses throughout my life, lol. That’s awesome that you play guitar. I’ve always wanted to learn to play guitar and drums. I did clarinet and piano when I was a kid and clarinet up until like 9th grade, but I haven’t touched either in so long that I probably forget how to play them.

    • You know the struggle! It’s so difficult to get attached to a home, then pack up your bags and leave again. Ha.
You should learn to play the guitar! It’s such a popular instrument that you don’t even need classes; online tutorials work so well. :3

      • Since I’ve moved around so much, I haven’t ever really made a lot of friends that stuck around. So that was also a downfall of moving so much. I also really hate packing and unpacking, so it was a nightmare every time haha. I definitely want to check out playing a guitar. I bet it’ll be really easy with all the videos online.

  9. This was a cool way to know more about the person behind the blog! I was also a huge fan of drake and josh as a kid, but I have to admit that I’d choose sweet over savoury any day 🙂 Thanks for sharing

  10. Doctor Who is the first show that I ever binge watched, too! I’ve had a recent desire to watch David Tennant’s seasons of Doctor Who again… I might have to cave in to it soon haha 🙂

  11. Ahhh this was WONDERFUL. XD I love all your facts!! And I agree, it’s so much fun getting to know the bloggers behind the blogs!! And I thought I’d live din a lot of houses, but nope. I got nothing on you. XD I think I’ve lived in 7 houses in 2 different states, but I haven’t moved countries! Here’s my TTT!

  12. I totally didn’t already know you liked Zayn from Twitter, haha. 😉 And wow you moved around a lot. Must’ve been heard to leave friends behind though.

  13. I can only really get into Supernatural if I binge watch. For some reason I completely lost attention and can’t handle the plot if I try to watch it one episode at a time.
I love your first concert. My first was Fall Out Boy and All American Rejects. I was so into them at the time too… I still kind of am. I have playlists of my favourite songs by them to motivate me to run 😛
Great list! Thanks for sharing your random facts.
