Hello everyone! It’s that time of the week again! Top Ten Tuesday is a book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Basically, you get a different bookish topic every Tuesday, and you comprise a list of ten (or however many you’re able to list) relating to said topic.
Today’s topic is ‘Top Ten Releases of 2016.’ I haven’t read much this year (I’ve only completed 25 books at the moment), and I’ve only read a couple of books released in 2016. It didn’t make sense to do a post for that, so I thought I’d just tell you some of the best books I’ve read so far. I’ve only read two five-star books, including A Game of Thrones, which was a re-read, so I’m not going to count that in this post. This post will not have ten items, simply because I haven’t read ten four or five-star reads. :3
In order of awesomeness
1. A Gathering of Shadows (A Darker Shade of Magic #2) by V. E. Schwab
A Gathering of Shadows is, by far, my favorite book I’ve read this year. I know I’ve spoken a lot about it ever since I read it last month, but I can’t help it. I have so many feels. Kell and Rhy’s bromance is everything good in this world. Delilah Bard is fucking amazing, and the writing just makes my heart sing with joy. Kell’s intense desire to belong makes me want to weep like a baby, AND I DID. Nothing extremely devastating happened in this book, but the CHARACTERIZATION MADE ME CRY, GUYS. That is fucking incredible.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab | The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski | Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
With Malice by Eileen Cook | Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch | Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I’ve recently realized that I’ve become extremely picky with my ratings. The books listed above are the ONLY books I have given a rating of above 3.5 stars this entire year. 7. SEVEN.
