Hello everyone! It’s that time of the week again! Top Ten Tuesday is a book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Basically, you get a different bookish topic every Tuesday, and you comprise a list of ten (or however many you’re able to list) relating to said topic.
Today’s topic is a Valentine’s Day freebie. You can choose anything Valentine’s (or anti-Valentine’s) Day related. I’ve been wanting to tell everyone about my many fictional boyfriends for a while now, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to do so. This is also a place to showcase what I envision these boys to look like *swoons*
Note: this list is not in a set order. But #1 is the guy I WILL fight you for.
1. Chaol Westfall from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
aka the Ultimate Bae
“In the garden, the Captain of the Guard stared up at the young woman’s balcony, watching as she waltzed alone, lost in her dreams. But he knew her thoughts weren’t of him.” – Throne of Glass
Willing to give up everything he has lived for (loyalty, honor, duty) for the one girl who challenges it all. Gets treated like shit for this very reason. I love Chaol so freaking much- he’s probably my only fictional boyfriend I have very non-fictional feelings for. Others I love a lot, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to bring them to life…
2. Han Alister from the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima
“His aster-blue eyes shown out from a face blackened by bruises and soot, his fair hair glittering in the firelight. Dressed all in black, silhouetted against flame, he looked rather like a demon, raised from the dead, trading for souls on the other side.” – the Crimson Crown
Not only is Han Alister one of the greatest ‘hero’ characters I’ve ever read, he’s also incredibly swoon worthy. Dangerous, lethal, yet sweet and loyal and inherently good.
3. Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
“A liar, a thief, and utterly without conscience. But he’ll keep to any deal you strike with him.”
Ruthless? Problematic? I realize this, but I can’t help it. The heart wants what it wants.
4. Arin from The Winner’s trilogy by Marie Rutkoski
“She turned to look at him, and he was already looking at her. “I’m going to miss you when I wake up,” she whispered, because she realized that she must have fallen asleep under the sun. Arin was too real for her imagination. He was a dream.
“Don’t wake up,” he said.” – the Winner’s Crime
Arin is so adorkable. He’s just a nice, sweet guy who deserves everything good.
5. Khalid from The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh
“Get up, Shahrzad al-Khayzuran. You kneel before no one. Least of all me.”
Okay, so this model isn’t Middle Eastern, but he is Pakistani so hey, that has to count. Because I can’t seem to picture anybody but him as Khalid? I’m sorry.
6. The Darkling from the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
“The Darkling slumped back in his chair. “Fine,” he said with a weary shrug. “Make me your villain.” – Shadow and Bone
Another problematic character. I’m not pro-abusive relationships or anything, guys, but I’m not going to deny the attraction I feel towards bad boys. D: I don’t have a fan cast for the Darkling because I find it incredibly difficult to picture anyone as him. I know Sean O’Pry is a popular choice, but that’s just not how I pictured him.
7. Jacin from the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
“I am your guard. I’m here to protect you and keep you out of trouble, and that’s it.” – Winter
I really loved Wolf when I was reading the series, and while I still love him, Jacin has officially taken his place. What can I say? I’m a sucker for soldiers.
8. Will Herondale from the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
“Ah,” said a voice from the doorway, “having your annual ‘everyone thinks Will is a lunatic’ meeting, are you?
“It’s biannual,” said Jem. “And no, this is not that meeting.” – Clockwork Prince
Alright, so I’m a cliché. I like Will Herondale – he’s sarcastic and narcissistic but incredibly sweet and loyal. Also, wherever Will goes, Jem kind of tags along so this is like a 2-in-1 deal. 😛
9. Akiva from Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
“He wanted to tell her that everything he had done he had done because he was broken, because watching her die had destroyed him, but there was no way to say it that didn’t sound like he was trying to pin the blame outside himself.” – Daughter of Smoke & Bone
Okay, sure he doesn’t totally fit the description for Akiva, but God damn it. I cannot picture anyone else. He’s a little old to look like Akiva, BUT nobody else comes close to how I pictured him.
10. Warden from the Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
“They told us to stop wanting more than what they gave us, because what they gave us was more than we deserved.” I picked up my jacket. “You’re not a prisoner any more, Arcturus.” Warden looked at me in silence. I left him in that ruined hall with the music echoing above him.” – The Mime Order
Warden as Jason Momoa. Whaaaaat, wouldn’t that be the greatest thing in the world. 🙂
That’s it for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! Let me know some of YOUR fictional crushes (because fictional boyfriends and girlfriends are better than most real life people, am I right?) Tell me in the comments down below, and have a happy Valentine’s (or anti-Valentine’s) day! 😀
