Hello everyone! It’s that time of the week again! Top Ten Tuesday is a book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Basically, you get a different bookish topic every Tuesday, and you comprise a list of ten (or however many you’re able to list) relating to said topic.
Today’s topic is a freebie of sorts – you can write ten facts about yourself, whether they are bookish or non-bookish, or whatever you like. I went for a non-bookish theme. I don’t know about you but I really love getting to know more about a blogger, what their lives are like, what things they enjoy besides reading and blogging. It’s also fun to sometimes step back and write something on a topic other than books!
1. Places I’ve Lived
I have lived in 3 continents, 3 countries, 4 cities and 14 houses, LOL. I was born in Faisalabad, Pakistan. From there, I moved to a larger city called Lahore – also in Pakistan. At the age of seven, I moved to the UK (London), and then back to Lahore when I was 10. At seventeen, I moved to New York. Since then – in the past three years – I’ve moved three houses. XD
2. Dream vacation home
I know many people say that their dream vacation home would be in a nice exotic location with lots of water and beaches, and that’s pretty and everything, but gosh. What I wouldn’t do to own a little cabin in the woods. Maybe I’d make friends with wolves or something. Wouldn’t that be a dream? (I have a strange obsession with wolves, I don’t know how it started but it’s getting out of hand, guys.)
3. Football obsession
When I was in seventh grade, I discovered a strange little thing called football. It’s 20 men running and kicking around a football, and it was the single greatest thing I’d ever rooted for. Manchester United Football Club became my obsession; the matches would take place in the UK at ungodly hours in Pakistan; I’d set an alarm for 2 am and wake up in the middle of the night on school nights, quietly tread downstairs to the TV lounge and whisper-scream whenever Manchester United won a match, ha. I’ve stopped watching football since then, but the club holds such a dear place in my heart. <3
4. Ay, I play the guitar!
In fourth grade, I begged my dad to let me take a guitar-class in school. My dad’s always been awesome- he bought me a guitar that went with my tiny body and I’ve been playing ever since. It’s been what, almost 12 years since I first picked up the instrument? I’m so shit at keeping up with hobbies, though (which is why I’m amazed I’m still blogging), because I haven’t picked up my guitar in months. 🙁
5. Savory over sweet
I love chocolate as much as the next person, and ice-cream is awesome, but I can always turn down dessert. I can never turn down a good savory dish. Nom nom, now I’m hungry.
6. First show I binge-watched
Now, I really enjoyed Western TV shows as a child. Drake & Josh was my LIFE, as well as all those awesome Disney Channel shows that this generation will never know: That’s So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, Phil of the Future- classic. But the first TV show I actively binge-watched was Doctor Who, back when I was in ninth grade. God, it took over my life! After that, the binge-watcher in me emerged. Right after came my obsession with the Vampire Diaries, 90210 and Gossip Girl, after which came Supernatural. The rest is history.
7. First Tumblr account
Lmao, this is so embarrassing, and I don’t think I’ve ever admitted this to anyone. So y’all are special, you hear me? My first tumblr account was a depressing as fuck, black-and-white emo account where I posted about how sad my life was and reblogged the most depressing photos. Looking back, I think about what I had to be sad about? LMAO, oh no my best friend said something mean, or my parents won’t let me eat as much chocolate as I want? Hahahaha, wow. I was, what, 12?!?!
8. First major concert
You might think this gif is an ill fit, but I swear to you, it is not. My first major concert was Kings of Leon, and I saw them live in 2014 at Madison Square Gardens. I bought the ticket with my own money, and since it was my first concert, I wasn’t aware of what the best seats were. I was to the sidelines (close to the stage), but among a group of people who were there just to be there, not because they were fans. I, on the other hand, knew every single song. I’m a HUGE Kings of Leon fan, so I was very literally the only one jumping and singing all the songs. It was a great, albeit slightly awkward, night.
9. First rock music exposure
The first ever rock song I heard was Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day. Yes, I remember exactly which one it was because it changed my fucking life. American Idiot was the first album I bought, and it still remains one of my favorite albums of all-time. My taste in music was forever changed in 2004 when Green Day, Weezer, Hoobastank and Brand New came into my life, ha. Ever since, rock is the only constant in my ever-expanding music taste. I always come back to rock music- it’s just how it is.
10. Ultimate celebrity crush
ZAYN MALIK IS THE ULTIMATE BAE. I didn’t ever like One Direction’s music, but they became all the rage in Pakistan when people found out there’s a half-Pakistani member in the band. Googled him, and I died. HAHA. Looking back at fetus Zayn, I wonder how I ever found him attractive. BECAUSE PRESENT ZAYN with his facial hair and crazy tattoos and the dark persona, THAT IS EVERYTHING I LIVE FOR. Plus, if I were to marry him, it’d totally be halal. Aim for the moon, right? XD
