YOU Choose What I Read Next: Make Me Read It Readathon 2017

Last year, I took part in the Make Me Read It Read-a-thon, and had a blast reading some of what people chose. I’m so excited to do the same this year – especially because I have a ton of ARCs I need to get to in August, since September is a big release month. Before I get to the choices, here’s some information about the readathon.

What is Make Me Read It Read-a-thon, and who hosts it?

The Make Me Read It Read-a-thon is an annual readathon hosted by Ely @ Tea & Titles, and Val @ The Innocent Smiley. Here’s the official description and how you can participate.

Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten.

Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers/bookstagrammers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read.

When the readathon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible.

The read-a-thon runs from August 6th to August 13th, and you can start reading whenever you hit 12 AM in your time-zone.

Potential TBR

Are you participating in this readathon? If you are, leave me a link in the comment section and I’ll visit, and pick what you should read. Let me know what you chose for me, and as always, thanks for stopping by and happy reading!

    • Warcross is winning, so I’ll definitely be getting to that one first and foremost, ha. Thank you so much for voting, and good luck with your TBR too. I’ll check it out and vote too. 🙂

    • Thank you so much for stopping by! I’ll definitely vote on your post as well. <3

    • Thank you so much for stopping by and voting! I’ll definitely vote on your list too. Good luck to you as well. <3

    • I’m so excited for Warcross! Thank you so much for stopping by and voting. <3

    • I think Forest of a Thousand Lanterns just isn’t as hyped as the other ones, but I’m super excited to read it eventually. Thank you so much for voting. 🙂

    • The cover art for FOATL really is absolutely stunning, you’re right! And Marie Lu is such a talented writer, I can’t wait to read it. Looks like it’s winning too. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by and voting!

    • Hehe, they’re all upcoming releases, so hopefully you’ll be hearing more about them closer to their release dates! 🙂 Thank you for stopping by and voting!

  1. Tough choice! There are many books in here I’d love to read as well. In the end I went for Warcross. I think you’ll have a great read-a-thon no matter what’s picked!

    • Haha, I know! When I was making the poll, I was thinking about how people would have a tough time with this. Warcross is winning with a biiiiiig margin, so I’m definitely getting to it first. Thank you so much for voting!

  2. Voted on “Warcross” because it sounds super interesting and is a book I could see myself reading at some point. I look forward to seeing what we both end up reading during this read-a-thon. I am participating in it as well and super excited about it since it is my first one. I feel like a total newbie, since I am one, but I am so happy that I am getting to participate with a part of the book blogging community during this.

    • WARCROSS is one that I’m super pumped to get to! I’ve heard such amazing things about it, and I hope you enjoy it if you get to it. Readathons are always a ton of fun! When I was a newbie, I participated in them all the time! Good luck with your TBR; I hope you read everything you want to and have tons of fun. 🙂

  3. I chose Forest of a Thousand Lanterns because the MC is a villian and that is not something that I have seen in most of the books that were published this year.

I won’t be participating because I’ll be preparing my move to Scotland. and I don’t want to stress myself so much.

  4. I love participating in this readathon!!

I voted for They Both Die In The End. I haven’t heard of these books before and that one appealed to me the most. Hope you enjoy whatever book it is that wins for you.

  5. I picked Warcross because I’m a huge fan of Marie Lu’s writing! The rest of the books all sound amazing though and they’re all books I’m hoping to read sometime this year. Have a great readathon! 🙂

    • I love Marie Lu’s THE YOUNG ELITES series (though I have to read the last book!) Thank you so much; here’s to hoping you can get them when you get a chance!

    • fdgkhk it’s tied for first place; either way I’m reading that, I’ve heard such great things.

  6. So many great books on here, it was hard to choose haha but I picked Warcross because I’m the most excited about that one, I think 😀 Happy reading Aimal! <3

  7. Hi! This is my first year participating in this readathon and I’m so excited! I love the idea of voting on everyone’s choices! Good luck and happy reading! 😀

    • Oooh that’s so exciting! It’s a wonderful readathon, and I hope you get to your goals. 💖 Good luck!

    • Hahaha, I was pretty sure which ones were gonna be the first two, and I was right. xD

  8. I love this idea for a readathon! I haven’t heard of this before, but I’ve seen people post regular series of posts like this on their blog. I might have to jump on the band wagon, too. I hope you enjoy whatever you end up reading!

    • It’s such a great idea, especially because I have waaaaay too many books on my shelf that are so hyped, and I never know where to start! I hope you get to participate! 💖

    • Yes, same about They Both Die at the End! I’m excited for that one, since I enjoyed both his other books. 🙂

    • I’m SO excited for An Enchantment of Ravens; I was psyched when it came in the mail! Good luck to you too (if you’re participating!)

  9. This sounds like a really interesting readathon, unfortunately I am too busy at that time to participate. I hope you have fun.

  10. Ooh I did this one last year and it was so much fun. Definitely participating again! You have an amazing TBR and I want to read so many of these. I voted for They Both Die at the End because I read it last month and it’s easily one of my new all time favourites.

    • I’m just looking at my TBR thinking I’m definitely going to end up reading all these in August, just a matter of what order I’m picking them up in, ha. 😅 I’m so excited for They Both Die at the End. I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Lauren!

  11. Awesome TBR! The tiger’s daughter is a good read but sadly, it didn’t worked out for me. I hope you love it! I’m so excited for An Enchantment of Ravens and Warcross! I hope you enjoy reading reading them! 🙂

    • OH NO. I’m so sad to hear about THE TIGER’S DAUGHTER. I’ve heard such good things. 🙁 Thank you so much!

  12. So many books I am so curious about, but I went for 27 Hours in the end. I am not participating this year though I love the concept of this read-a-thon. Hopefully next year again.

    • I’ve heard amazing things about 27 HOURS! Thank you so much for voting, Annemieke. 💖
